Rochas – Madame Rochas: Overview, Smell, Notes & More!

Madame Rochas from the Rochas perfume house was first created in 1960, as a tribute to Hélène Rochas, and then revamped in 1989.

It has a floral and woody scent, featuring notes of hyacinth, orange blossom, and violet, that give it an elegant edge.

It also has spicy and woody undertones of sandalwood, oakmoss, and tonka bean.

It’s one of those classic fragrances that are both sophisticated and sweet, making it a versatile scent to wear anywhere you choose.

What Does Madame Rochas Smell Like?

Madame Rochas smells like a floral garden on a warm summer day.

It has flowery notes that are complemented with undertones of spice and wood.

The floral aroma is soft and light, and the woody scent is bold and warm.

It’s well balanced and has a beautiful smell with lily of the valley, ylang-ylang, and tonka bean.

Madame Rochas’ classic fragrance can easily become one of your signature fragrances.

How Long Does Madame Rochas Last For?

Because of the balance of aromas, Madame Rochas lasts a very long time.

This doesn’t mean it’s overpowering though.

You will definitely smell it when you apply it to your skin, and it lasts for many hours.

Over time, the light flowery aroma may start to fade slightly but the deep green aromas will carry on for hours.

You will easily be able to apply this scent in the morning and smell it throughout the day and until you shower at night.

It’s a great choice if you don’t have time to reapply throughout the day.

When Should You Wear It?

Because of the floral and woody scents, it is ideal for summer, spring, and even fall.

It captures all the aromas of trees, leaves, flowers, bark, and nature in general.

It’s a classic and sophisticated smell that will remind you of being outdoors.

Where Should You Wear It?

You can wear this great scent for any occasion.

It’s strong enough to be noticed if you are outdoors and light enough to not be overpowering indoors.

It can work for a number of situations as it’s quite memorable.

Some places you can wear this timeless fragrance include dinners and lunch dates, work events and school, as well as on summer vacations.

Presentation and Value For Money

The new version of the bottle, designed by Pierre Dinand, is just as pretty as the perfume it contains.

It comes in 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml versions and sells for around $28 for 100ml.

It is slim, sleek, and clear.

The perfume inside is a rich amber color that can easily be seen thanks to the clear bottle.

The lid is a gold color, and the label is feminine and fancy.

Apparently, the original label was written by Hélène Rochas herself.

Given that it’s somewhat of an iconic perfume at an affordable price, I would say it’s definitely good value for money.

The Bottom Line

If you are looking for an elegant perfume that is soft, girly, and floral, this one’s for you.

The botanicals, florals, and woody tones create a natural fragrance that is easy to enjoy and will last through many seasons and occasions.

Perfumes that Smell Like Madame Rochas

Personally, I find that these three perfumes smell similar:

1. Tom Ford Metallique EDP

With aldehydes and a floral perfume, this essence is much like Madame Rochas.

It has a fresh and light scent with some woody undertones that make it memorable.

2. Amouage Dia Woman EDP

This fragrance not only has a similar scent but a similar bottle as well.

It’s floral, with wood tones, and it carries nicely. It has round packaging with a gold lid.

3. Chanel No 5 L’Eau Eau de Toilette

This classic fragrance is a popular one and has been around for a long time.

It’s also very similar to the Madame Rochas perfume and has the same spicy, woody, and floral notes.
