Yves Saint Laurent – La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense

La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense Eau de Parfum from the famous La Maison Yves Saint Laurent fashion house brings a fresh new meaning to the word “seduction.”

Expertly blending a tantalizing aesthetic with the unadulterated sophistication from the scent, the YSL perfume carries a deep, irresistible oriental fragrance that reflects the contemporary man’s strength.

Compared to YSL’s previous fragrances for men, these qualities elevate the product to bold new heights.

YSL La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense: Overview

  • Brand: Yves Saint Laurent
  • Fragrance: La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense
  • Release: 2015
  • Gender: Men
  • Perfumer: Dominique Ropion

YSL launched the intense version of the La Nuit de L’Homme Eau de Toilette in the summer of 2015, adding to the previous versions of the brand’s fragrance line: Le Parfum and the Frozen cologne.

The nose behind the versatile new fragrance is the French perfumer Dominique Ropion the master behind many of YSL’s scents, including the Le Parfum version.

It shares DNA with the original La Nuit de L’Homme YSL fragrance; it’s moderately pleasant and robust but without being an intense flanker. The scent reminds many of the original, but with a signature lipstick-like scent, while L’Homme’s characteristic cardamom note is absent from the L’Intense.

Fragrance Notes

  • Top Notes: Violet Leaf
  • Heart Notes: Iris Concrete, Sage
  • Base Notes: Patchouli, Vanilla, Tonka Bean

Except for the sweet, darker notes of tonka beans and patchouli, the main ingredients of this perfume could almost be mistaken for a feminine fragrance.

While it’s more than just a “slightly masculine” fragrance, the more seasoned bouquet aficionado might well pick up on its more feminine charms. Therefore, it’s often considered a unisex perfume, with the floral notes making the woody and earthy tone a little sweet.

However, the strong iris note produces a more inherently male emanation that deviates from the more floral scents typically considered unisex.

What Does La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense Smell Like?

L’Intense perfume smells spicy and smooth, but with lipstick and powdery accords reminiscent of iris paired with violet floral notes and weaker vanilla. It’s a fantastic fragrance, one that embodies a successful and trustworthy man.

It’s a well-mixed fragrance for men that is slightly sweet, with a peppery note from the clary sage and the earthy and woody tone of patchouli.

L’Intense will radiate strongly at first, smelling of its atomic, strong iris root. It’s where you can enjoy the harsher, more dominant nature of the glowing iris, but this soon evaporates.

If you’re into the bolder and harsher iris, you might think this perfume’s alcoholic sweetness lacks refinement. However, the fragrance remains elegant.

Rather, La Nuit Intense possesses more subtle notes that are more seductive and charismatic than an in-your-face, alpha-like aroma.

It’s also non-gasoline smelling and subtler than most men’s fragrances.

How Long Does La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense Last For?

This perfume only lasts for eight or so hours, which is an average longevity compared to several bolder fragrances. Regardless, it retains a pretty subtle aroma with relatively strong staying power.

It could last significantly longer when applied to clothing or hair, even through the night.

It’s called “Intense,” and it does have a certain intensity, but it will not take center stage in a room full of people. Although YSL wanted to create a darker perfume than La Nuit, this one’s sillage is average at best, probably up to an arm’s length.

When it comes to consistency you can expect above average versatility from the L’Intense. It’s a good scent that smells similar on all skin types.

However, the fragrance turns for the worst in harsh weather conditions, so avoid extreme cold (and hot) weather.

When Should You Wear It?

Wear the L’Intense perfume daily or don its irresistible sweetness for the perfect date night scent. The perfume’s target groups include those who want to smell great wearing a well-known scent.

Additionally, it can be your signature scent for more general use.

Where Should You Wear It?

Day or night!

L’Intense is a mesmerizing masculine fragrance that smells good for almost all social situations. However, you might want to refrain from using it in places where you’re going to sweat a lot, like at the seaside or the gym.

Presentation and Value For Money

YSL is known to create bolder perfumes with classic, iconic bottles. This new YSL fragrance features ultimate sophistication in both the fragrance and the bottle.

Like its name, the bottle signifies intensity and seduction, characterized by the ambery color of the bottle, mixed with the smoothness of black.

When compared with other La Nuit L’Homme perfume bottles, it presents good value.

The Bottom Line

The L’Intense is a slightly different version of the original note but with a somewhat different take. Instead of the fresh, carefree vibe of the La Nuit fragrance, L’Intense lives up to its name with its great smell.

The new shade of seduction imparts a sexy yet classy vibe, with an alluring, irresistible, and charismatic edge and a seductive twist.

Perfumes that Smell Like La Nuit de L’Homme L’Intense

  1. Christian Dior Homme Intense

If you’re a fan of iris, you’ll get the same strong iris punch of the L’Intense from the bottle of Dior Homme. It also carries the same lipstick aroma as the L’intense, but the Dior Homme is best suited for winter.

Although it smells refined and classy, it can be an overly sweet and cloying fragrance during warmer weather.

  1. Guerlain Arsene Lupin Dandy

This perfume carries the same charismatic fragrance of the L’Intense with its caressing aroma of powdery florals. It includes a subtle violet floral note blended with a patchouli note and mixed with sage to make it more masculine and striking.

  1. Christian Dior Fahrenheit

For the powdery violet floral aroma, you can find the same mood of the L’Intense in Fahrenheit EDT. It’s also a timeless and universal fragrance designed to make a lasting impression, and the bottle features the same red-black color scheme of YSL’s L’Intense.
